Amazing Awaits
Amazing Awaits
These are the words tattooed to the floor as you enter the cafeteria of the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I am fortunate to have the unique opportunity to train Olympians and it allows me the opportunity to articulate some of the experiences I've had while working with these world-class athletes.
I apologize. Let me precede with a little about me... I take each day, regardless of the outcome, and do my best to control my emotions. Not getting to high or to low. For example, in starting my own business, I was elated that my first professional client was Carl Crawford, I kept it inside me and immediately focused on the process to getting Carl healthy and performing at the level he was capable of. That required developing a plan and providing daily adjustments to meet his current needs at the time. Compare that to 2011 when We (DST) trained over 40 professional athletes from hockey, basketball, football and baseball. Yes. I am happy about that growth, but I am also humble. I am excited to keep providing the training experience that will equip our athletes to handle any challenge and realize success on all levels. On a second and non-related sports note, I once had my car stolen from me, and my GF (Wife now) at the time was impressed with how I controlled my temper at the time (I think it helped that I drove a dodge neon that my 6'2.5" body had to cram into, by the way they found it a week later :-(). On my last note, I used to be very temperamental and expressive both verbally and physically. Thank God I've been forgiven and have made monumental changes in how I express my emotions :-)
Sorry about talking about myself but I hope that u come to the conclusion that DST is looking more so at the process than the outcome, the outcome always takes care of itself. When u have a clear process, more often than not the outcome has the tendency to get your emotions overly involved.
Last but not least, I want to let all you aspiring athletes know that every time I read those two words, it gets me fired up because I know that even if your not heading to the Olympics... Amazing is still waiting for every single one of you!!! It's a lesson I've learned from training so many greats from so many sports it's one of the greatest parallel's that bridges all athletes, not just Olympians.
Amazing Awaits all those who marry the process!!!
