Ben Tate's DST Improvement (Part II)
Let’s take a look at the raw numbers from Tate’s outstanding 2009 Combine Performance and also give a shout out to my mentor Pete Bommarito in preparing Ben for the NFL Combine. 40 Yd Dash: 4.34 (3rd) Bench Press: 26 (1st) Vertical Jump: 40.5” (2nd) Broad Jump: 10’4” (2nd) Shuttle: 4.12 (2nd) L Drill: 6.91 (6th) Best overall performance in the running backs group at the 2009 NFL Combine. As you can see, his athleticism translates to the field as he has followed his first 100 yard game with another 100+ against the Miami Dolphins. Now, most of you might ask how Ben could further improve from a physical standpoint. To the naked eye, it would be difficult to recognize, and with Ben’s ability to compensate with his superhuman strength, it’s even difficult to argue with his results. This is where we get our inspiration, because in every individual, regardless of level, we analyze and develop programs that dissect individual needs and pair them with goals. What we do is ineffective if we don’t have our athlete’s commitment. What you see below from Ben is what happens when athletes do commit and changes occur. The below picture is not typical and is the most significant improvement that we have seen from any of our athlete’s, youth included (the easiest group to improve results) This is Ben’s 8th Stride and an unfathomable improvement of 4ft!!! Stay locked in as we break down Ben’s training program that allowed him to improve backside extension.
