DST Athletic Development Internship
Students who are pursing a degree in exercise science, kinesiology, biomechanics or related field who are interested in obtaining certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or any other Training Certification are encouraged to apply. Students will learn about the concept of Athletic Development, and aid in not only the training of competitive and recreational athletes, but also in administration/marketing aspects of this business.
The strength and conditioning internship program for DST Performance Enhancement is an opportunity for students to apply their education through hands-on training, as well as learn new skills to prepare them for a career in strength and conditioning. Learning opportunities include:
- Dynamic Warm Up
- Core Stabilization
- Speed Development: Linear acceleration, Lateral acceleration, Change of Direction, and Top Speed
- MDM Mobility
- Program Design
- Energy System Development
- Basic Performance Nutrition
- Resistance Training
- Functional Movement Screening
Responsibilities of students include assisting staff train private clients, speed and strength & power classes, upkeep of equipment, and perform various assignments assigned by the Internship Site Coordinator.
Qualifications and skills required:
- US Citizenship
- Currently Enrolled in an accredited University
- Current student studying the field of exercise science and/or other related fields
- CPR/First Aid Certification is preferred
- Effective leader with strong people skills
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work with others and thrive in group settings
